Cycle of life garden

In the midst of a bustling city, there lies a serene and peaceful garden that celebrates the circle of life. As you enter, you are immediately transported into a world of greenery and tranquillity, where the sounds of the city fade away, and the gentle rustle of leaves becomes the only sound you can hear.

The garden works as a service of a senior hostel in Rome. A place for people who have decided to leave home and live the last period of their lives in relaxation and peace.

The garden is an excuse to reflect about the cycle of life and has been carefully designed to represent it. As you walk through the winding paths and tunnels of flowers, you will see a wide variety of plants and trees, each representing a different stage of life and growth.

The garden has been designed to symbolize different stages and aspects of life trough diverse garden areas. Each section offers unique experiences, fostering community, learning, doing sport, playing and reflection.

The first area is a ludic space with interactive elements, designed for both children and adults to share a space of kindness.

The central area encourages social interaction, shared meals and community events.

There are two areas dedicated to both vegetable gardens and fruits trees to teach gardening skills, sustainable practices and provide fresh produce; in those areas is possible to plan interactive workshops and seasonal planting schedules.

The garden is full of intimate spaces, with cosy seating, aromatic plants like lavender and rosemary, a serene, secluded areas for quite reflection and personal time for meditation and reading.

Curving paths connects each area representing the journey of life revealing different plant and tree species to emphasise existence. The paths are made of natural materials like rammed earth and gravel and are deliberately left weathering with an absolute impermanent character.

This garden not only showcase the cycle of life through its diverse spaces connected but also fosters community, learning, play, socialize and growth.
