8 March Park
In the heart of Milan, you’ll find the 8 March Park. This green oasis covers over 28,000 square meters, embodying the Slowpark philosophy – a park designed to encourage visitors to slow down and temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
The park is part of a green corridor that extends from the historic Parco Formentano, with plans underway for the construction of the new European Library of Information and Culture (BEIC).
The playground area, situated in an elevated part of the park, is bordered by the main pathways but protected from cross-traffic. This inclusive space, designed for all school-aged children, features slides and climbing nets, including the first triple butterfly structure made with Corocord nets installed in Europe. The park is dedicated to all women, which is why it was inaugurated on March 8th. Along the pathways, steel slabs are engraved with themes inspired by various female figures.
The design emphasizes themes of culture and nature, offering a variety of open spaces with different characteristics: play areas for children, spaces for relaxation, reading, light exercise, and areas that encourage socialization.
This innovative structure stands out in every play area due to its organic shapes and transparency. The triple butterfly is a magnet for visitors, providing a wide range of playful activities such as climbing and sensory play. The blue membranes accentuate the shapes and enhance climbing opportunities while also creating a meeting point above ground level.
Thanks to the transparency of the nets, children can see and communicate with each other across the butterfly, from ground level to the top and laterally. The three optical panels appear different depending on the angle from which they are viewed, fostering dialogue and helping develop children’s logical thinking skills.

Kompan
At Kompan, the mission has been clear and unwavering since their inception in 1970: to help clients build healthier, happier communities. Their journey began with a simple yet revolutionary idea, rooted in a deep appreciation for the role of play in a child’s development. The story of Kompan is intimately connected with the visionary Tom Lindhardt. Noticing the joy children found in interacting with his art, Tom envisioned a new way to integrate his artistic creations into play. Alongside co-founder Hans Mogens Fenne-Frederiksen, Tom founded Kompan to transform art into play. This innovation arose during the 1970s, when urbanization led to large, impersonal housing projects. Their philosophy is also reflected in their name: “Kompan” derives from the Danish word for “companion” and “lifetime friend.” They are dedicated to building vibrant environments that promote well-being and growth, guided by the belief that thoughtful design fosters healthy, happy communities.
